Veteran’s Day is a beautiful reminder of all who have answered the call of service. Soldiers at every age and stage have stood brave and tall to protect our freedom, and for that we honor them. Veteran’s Day on November 11th is also the anniversary of the end of World War I. WWI battles formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. We celebrate Veteran’s Day each year as a time to be dedicated to the cause of world peace. We remember and thank all our veterans for serving, giving, and sacrificing to make our country free, peaceful, and strong.

We invite you to support veteran owned businesses in here in The Shed such as Williams Garden and Cedar Ridge Eggs. Shopping with local farms is a great way to give back to the community, especially on Veteran’s Day weekend! According to the U.S. Census Bureau, “seventeen percent of all farms have a producer who has served or is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.”  It makes sense that Veterans would have a passion to farm and steward the land, since both our military servicemen and farmers are dedicated to creating a safe and fruitful home for us all. Sam, owner of Cedar Ridge Eggs, shares, “Our goal has always been to provide a nutritious and environmentally friendly product for the entire northeast Texas region.”  We’re beyond grateful to Sam, Mr. Williams of Williams Gardens, and so many countless others who have served our nation and brought their heart for service home to continue growing healthy communities.

Make sure to bring your Little Farmers along for a meaningful activity this weekend. We will be handwriting notes for our veterans that will be given to those who have selflessly answered this call to service.
