A Dallas Farmers Market field trip connects students directly with where the historic farmers market takes places and learns about the 85+ years of history. Students will learn about Texas produce, seasonality, and the types of products sold each weekend at the Dallas Farmers Market. Field trips include a guided tour of the Market Garden and a visit with the Hens of DFM. Every visit is guided by a DFM educator or knowledgeable producer volunteer. Activities are adapted to grade level, from simple sensory exploration for the youngest visitors to supply chain, food systems discussions, and meeting local business owners for older students.

Submit the request form

Arrive and explore
Meet your guide at The Shed entrance on Pearl Street. Wear comfortable shoes — the tour is outdoors rain or shine.

Field trip FAQ
Monday through Friday, 9 am – 12 pm, during the school year (September through May). We do not host field trips on weekends. Contact us to discuss.
Yes. We recommend one adult chaperone per 10 students for groups younger than fifth grade. Include your chaperone count when you request a booking so we can plan accordingly.
We welcome groups of 10 to 120 students. Groups larger than 25 rotate through sub-groups of 20–25, each with a guide, so every student gets hands-on time with producers.
Yes, each field trip is $10 per student and $5 per adult / chaperone. Final head counts are due 7 days prior to scheduled field trip. Invoices are sent via email and only accept payment via credit or debit card. Add-on activities such as plant potting workshops, cooking demonstrations, and produce sampling sessions may have a small additional materials fee, etc.; please confirm pricing when booking.
At least two weeks, so we can confirm producer participation and arrange parking. For spring semester visits (March–May), book as early as possible — those dates fill up fast.
