If your kitchen isn’t full of peach pies, cobblers, and popsicles, it’s the perfect weekend to change that. Fresh peaches from Williams Garden, Lightsey’s Farm, and Efurd Orchard are here in The Shed! Sweet cling-stone peaches are ideal for snacking and packing for lunch on the go, but free-stone peaches are best for baking, canning, and jamming. With all of these options, you’ll definitely want to save some for later.

Here’s a tip to keep peaches on hand all year round:

  1. Slicing and storing peaches doesn’t have to be tricky! Choose slightly firm free-stone peaches for the best results.
  2. Wash peaches for storing before slicing.
  3. Slice peaches into about ½ in sections.
  4. Lay flat and pat dry with a cloth to remove excess moisture.
  5. Cover a baking sheet with freezer paper.
  6. Arrange peach slices flatly on lined baking sheet and move to freezer.
  7. Once peaches are completely frozen, remove and transfer to a freezer safe mason jar (these are the straight-sided variety rather than shouldered).
  8. Seal mason jar tightly and store peach slices in the freezer for 6 – 12 months!
