Observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is a meaningful pause to honor the United States military personnel who gave their lives in service to our country. It’s a time of remembrance that also marks the unofficial start of summer, with longer days inviting us outdoors to gather with family and friends. From backyard barbecues to picnic blankets and easygoing afternoons, this holiday weekend is all about coming together. There’s no better place to kick it off than at the Dallas Farmers Market as it’s high time for all those griddles, grills, and smokers to be uncovered and get fired up. Don’t throw just any meat on the heat, though. Your loved ones deserve better than questionable grocery-store options. Head to The Shed instead for the very best meats from our local, trustworthy ranchers:

  • 413 Farm – USDA certified organic pork, beef, and chicken
  • Hendrix Family Farms – family-operated, affordable, nutritious, and delicious beef and chicken
  • JuHa Ranch – grass-fed beef and rabbit (Saturday, May 23, only)
  • Texas Forest Farms – Texas Wagyu beef steaks and sausages

What’s a get-together without all the fixins, too?

  • D’s Sourdough – sourdough burger and slider buns, handcrafted in small batches and baked fresh using 100% organic ingredients
  • Kelley Produce – farm fresh onions and tomatoes
  • Lazy R Homestead – all things pickled (try the donkey tails) and a small selection of pork
  • Pepperona Peppers – fresh, flavorful peppers for stuffing or grilling
  • T-Rex Pickles – all manner of incredible pickles
  • Williams Garden – homegrown goodness of onions, tomatoes, and lettuce

Make the Dallas Farmers Market your first stop before the flames get going this Memorial Day weekend. Fill your bags with high-quality meats and cookout-ready favorites because great weekend memories start with a grill full of something worth gathering around.
