Hooray for May! Longer days and warmer nights mean it’s the perfect time to get outside and stroll through the Dallas Farmers Market, discovering new favorites and reconnecting with community. Make us a part of your weekend plans for a vibrant celebration of music, culture, and festivity as the DFM comes alive with all the flavor and fun of Cinco de Mayo.
On Saturday, May 2, grab something yummy, including tamales, margaritas, micheladas, and beer, from El Mero Mero in Pearl St. Plaza, then stick around for the colorful performance by the Ollimpaxqui Dance Company from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
On Sunday, May 3, Pearl St. Plaza will be bustling again with the return of El Mero Mero and a stunning performance by Representa Foundation Folklorico from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The festivities continue with La Ventana’s D.J. from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., mechanical bull riding from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and a mariachi band from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
As always, there’s plenty of family fun. On both Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., our Kids’ Activity features an adorable cactus handprint craft that captures this moment in time. Be sure to stop by Mama Ida’s Community Garden to see which winter vegetables are wrapping up, which spring vegetables are going in, and, most importantly, to say hi to all our chickens.
Fresh and flavorful strawberries continue to be featured in The Shed, and a few early-season tomato varieties are starting to make an appearance. Anticipation for the upcoming harvest of blueberries, peaches, and watermelon (oh my!) is building, so continue to check here for news of what’s in The Shed.
Special Cinco Note:
On Tuesday, Cinco de Mayo, enjoy some cheer from La Ventana with their all-day $5 margaritas in The Market, while Nikki Smith Designs at The Shops of Harvest Lofts features $5 charms from her collection of modern, trend-setting jewelry pieces.
It looks like the rain will give way to a beautiful spring weekend, so bring your friends and family to the Dallas Farmers Market for our lively Cinco de Mayo celebration. Supported in part by the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture, it’s the perfect place to dance, sip something refreshing, and celebrate together.
