Sizzle season is almost over! Believe it or not, the countdown is on for the first day of fall. September 23rd is highlighted and underlined on our calendars for the beginning of autumn, but transition season is well underway for farmers across North Texas. Once temps stretch over 100 degrees, summer crops tend to take a siesta until the sun lets the edge off a bit more. The glory days of summer tomatoes have waned, and now it’s the last call for summer produce. We’ll miss those early days of summer produce until next year, but Autumn – we’re ready! Watermelons and cantaloupes may be on their way out for now, we’re excited to welcome Apples, Pears, Persimmons, and PUMPKINS to The Shed over the next couple of weeks. Apples and Pears are ready now from Top of Texas Farms in Idalou, TX while persimmons and pumpkins will available soon! Get your whisks ready, because pie season is just around the corner.
