“When Grandpa made this ham, he always let us pour the brown sugar while his hands were covered in mustard. We still make it every year for Thanksgiving (with showing Turkeys in 4-H, we got tired of eating turkey all the time). Grandpa may no longer be with us, but he’s remembered every time we have that ham.”

Ingredients:

  •    8-10 lb. Bone-in ham shank portion
  •    Mustard
  •    Brown sugar
  •    Foil
  •    Cake pan

Directions:

  1. Cover the roasting pan with foil for easy clean up
  2. Cut and layout 2 layers of foil on the counter to double wrap the ham; set ham on foil
  3. Smear ham with mustard (easier to use clean hands)
  4. Sprinkle brown sugar over the mustard, seal the foil around ham
  5. Bake in oven at 350° for 4-5 hours or 330° for 5 hours (varies on size of ham); a roaster oven works well too
  6. After baking, carefully open the foil, carve ham, and place in serving platter.
