Ingredients:

  • 2 large grapefruits
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • A pinch of salt (optional)
  • Honey or maple syrup for drizzling (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Your Broiler: Set your oven to the broil setting and position a rack about 6 inches below the heat source.
  2. Prepare the Grapefruit:
    1. Slice the grapefruits in half crosswise.
    2. Use a small knife to loosen the segments by cutting around the edges and in between each segment (optional for easier eating).
    3. Place the grapefruit halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Top with Sugar: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown sugar over each grapefruit half. For extra flavor, sprinkle with cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
  4. Broil: Place the baking sheet under the broiler and cook for 4-6 minutes, or until the sugar is bubbling and slightly caramelized. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
  5. Serve: Let the grapefruit cool for a minute, then drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired. Serve warm with a spoon.

Enjoy as a sweet and tangy breakfast, snack, or dessert!
