Some of the most romantic movies, from Pride and Prejudice and Breakfast at Tiffany’s to The Notebook and Sweet Home Alabama, use rain as the backdrop for their most memorable moments of love. It’s proof that the frustration of a challenging element can lead to an even more special experience. With this in mind, we invite you to join us this Valentine’s Day and let the unexpected weather set the scene for our annual Texas Harvest Wine Tasting at the Dallas Farmers Market.
Texas holds a prominent place in American wine history as the home of the first vineyard established in North America by Franciscan priests around 1662. As mission outposts expanded, European settlers brought additional grapevine cuttings, helping shape an industry that continued to grow through the 1800s. Today, Texas boasts more than 14,000 vineyard acres and over 700 active winery permits, making it one of the most dynamic wine regions in the country. Celebrate that legacy this Saturday, February 14, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., by sipping wines from across the state, meeting the makers behind the bottles, and enjoying a cozy afternoon at The Shed, come rain or shine.
Enjoy 20 tastings from 12 different Texas wineries, all part of the Cross Timbers Wine Trail, plus live music from Maya Piata and small-business shopping. Meet the growers behind the grapes, discover limited-release and exclusive vintages, and explore curated pairings designed to elevate every pour (and downpour). Get an insider’s look at Texas vineyard life with insights from the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Uncork Texas Wines team. Each winery is creating a custom Wine Gift basket for our Silent Auction, featuring rare bottles of wine, wine accessories, wine tours, and more!
