Dallas Farmers Market Pumpkin Day featuring pumpkins, gourds and fall activities in Dallas

GOOD GOURD, IT’S PUMPKIN DAY!

Dallas’ Original Pumpkin Day is back at the Dallas Farmers Market. Join us Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, for a full weekend of pumpkin picking, family activities, and plenty of reasons to fall for the DFM. The Shed is filled with more than 20 varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds, from classic orange favorites to quirky shapes and unexpected colors, offering plenty of porch-worthy picks guaranteed to impress.

Saturday is packed to the patch with Pumpkin Day fun. We’ve got face painting from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., pedal tractors at Harvest Plaza and our pumpkin-themed Kids’ Activity from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., plus Balloon Art by Bender all day. Bring your already-carved masterpiece at 9:00 a.m. to enter our Carved Pumpkin Contest, judged from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for a chance to win a Pumpkin Day souvenir tote bag and button, a pumpkin of your choice valued at $25, and a $50 Shed gift card. At 10:30 a.m., Chef Furky takes over with a demo and food sampling, then at 2:30 p.m., things get deliciously competitive with the Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest hosted by 2nd Tap.

Sunday is just as fall festive, with our petting zoo featuring Country Critters at the Green Wall from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by another chance to gobble up the competition at 2:30 p.m. with 2nd Tap’s Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest. We’ll also have our pumpkin-themed Kids’ Activity from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Balloon Art by Bender all day.

Pick a pumpkin, grab a bite, join the fun, and stay awhile. Dallas’ Original Pumpkin Day only comes around once a year, so come celebrate with us and leave with a little more fall in your step.

Pumpkin of the Week

Meet our Pumpkin of the Week, the Big Mac. The Big Mac is a giant heirloom pumpkin that typically weighs a whopping 50 to 100 pounds, with some overachievers growing well beyond 150 pounds (hint, hint) under ideal conditions. Known for its bright reddish-orange skin, deeply ribbed shape, and supersized presence, the Big Mac is a showstopper in the pumpkin patch and makes for an incredible fall yard display.

Think you know your gourds? Stop by The Shed on Sunday from 10: 00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and take your best guess at the weight of our Big Mac Pumpkin for a chance to win a Pumpkin Day souvenir tote bag and button, a pumpkin of your choice valued at $25, and a $50 Shed gift card.
