The weekend we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Fresh tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, and blueberries are popping into The Shed from Texas fields full of sweet farm fresh produce. For many North Texas farmers, the peak season starts now and continues through the end of July. That’s a short time to get all the delicious produce we’ve been anticipating for so long, but that’s what seasonal eating is all about! Nothing beats a homegrown tomato or a field-ripe watermelon, and you just won’t find those around when the local growing season ends. Of course, that wonderful produce doesn’t make it to The Shed on its own. The hardworking hands of Texas farms ensure there’s plenty of harvest to go around and you’ll start to see some of our familiar farmer faces as they return to The Shed with summer crops. This weekend we welcome back Walnut Creek Farm from Alvarado, TX; hope you’ve got your farmers market bags ready to go!
