LETTUCE CELEBRATE NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK!

National Farmers Market Week (August 2–8) brings well-deserved attention to hardworking farmers, ranchers, and producers who keep our local food thriving, and no one is more pleased to join in the celebration than the Dallas Farmers Market. What began as a handful of sheds in 1941 has grown into a vibrant destination where more than 200 small businesses thrive, all centered on our weekend open-air farmers market in The Shed. Every vendor grows, raises, or makes their products in Texas or within 400 miles of Dallas, creating a place where you can shop with confidence, knowing exactly where your food comes from. As a nonprofit, the DFM reinvests every visit to support local farmers, strengthen our regional economy, and show up for the community we serve, because we know that without all of y’all, the Dallas Farmers Market wouldn’t be as successful as it is today.

Visiting the Dallas Farmers Market isn’t the only way to show your support. Make sure to tell a friend about all the incredible items you find and experiences you have. Better yet, bring a friend! Check out vendors’ social media pages and follow them. It’s an excellent way to get to know the folks behind your food and stay up to date on their offerings and hours at The Shed. Some even have local stands you may visit during the week. And don’t forget our Night Market, where you may buy in bulk. (Thursday Night Market, every week, year-round, 9:00 p.m. Thursday to 9:00 a.m. Friday. Sunday Night Market, seasonal addition, 9:00 p.m. Saturday to 9:00 a.m. Sunday, typically from May through November.)

This weekend, celebrate National Farmers Market Week with us by filling your basket with the freshest summer flavors, meeting the people behind your food, and remembering that good things grow when you shop local.

Egg-citing Family Fun

Get the whole family in on farmers market fun with Chicken Coop Chats on Saturday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m., and Sunday, August 9, at 10:30 a.m. Stop by the Chicken Coop in the back of The Shed to talk all things chicken, learn their names, and watch them enjoy fresh produce. You’ll be thoroughly charmed by these feathered friends. Country Critters Petting Zoo is also bringing the fluffy entertainment on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. by The Green Wall (next to Whiski Designs), and there’s our farm animal craft Kids’ Activity from 10:00 a.m. to noon both Saturday and Sunday.

With school right around the corner, we’d like to remind families that the Dallas Farmers Market truly believes fresh local food is for everyone. We currently have more than 30 participating SNAP vendors, and visitors can stretch their benefits even further through Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB). DUFB offers up to a $30 match per day on fresh fruits and vegetables, meaning SNAP shoppers can bring home up to $60 worth of fresh farm produce each day of our weekend farmers market, every weekend. Stop by the blue information booth at the front of The Shed to learn more and discover how to make the most of your DFM trip.

Beet the Typical with Radiant Oaks Ranch

Why settle for questionable when the Dallas Farmers Market’s standards ensure top quality? Mark your calendar for a visit with Radiant Oaks Ranch in The Shed on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, to shop for pasture-raised meats, farm-fresh eggs, seasonal small-batch offerings, and handcrafted creations, all made with care from their ranch to your table. More than just a transaction, it’s an opportunity to meet the people behind your food, support local agriculture, and experience the craftsmanship and community that make Radiant Oaks Ranch special. Swing by, say hello, and take home products that are a cut above.
