OH HONEY
School’s back in session, which means it’s only a matter of time before germs start flying home. This year, try a natural way to keep your hive healthy with honey. Honey’s antimicrobial properties help your body fight minor bacterial infections and upper respiratory bugs, while its antioxidants help reduce everyday cellular damage. It also acts as a prebiotic, feeding the good bacteria in your gut, where much of your immune system resides. Just a drizzle or spoonful adds a little boost that’s truly worth the Dallas Farmers Market buzz.
Join us this weekend as we get into the sticky sweet of all things honey. On Saturday, August 22, at 9:30 a.m., don’t miss our Talk with an Expert: Beekeeper Katie Capehart of Oakland Apiary as she brings a real beehive slice for us to explore and shares insights into bees, hives, the honey-making process, and the importance of local Texas honey. Then stop by and shop DFM honey vendors Honey Apple Farms, Lonestar Specialty Foods, and North Texas Pecans to enjoy all the benefits of adding this liquid gold to your everyday routine.
We’re also hosting a Honey Tasting at 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday to test your taste buds by comparing local honey varieties with grocery-store options. Discover the difference in flavor, freshness, and craftsmanship while learning what makes Texas honey so special. Families can enjoy our Kids’ Activity each morning, featuring a fun bee craft from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., while shopping for peak-season produce, artisan goods, and one-of-a-kind local finds throughout The Shed.
For those who enjoy the sweet side of competition, Ghost Mammoth Pickleball Club is joining us from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday to share information about their weekly pop-up events, open play, leagues, and beginner-friendly games in Downtown Dallas. It’s a welcoming, all-levels community with paddles provided, easy ways to learn, and events you can join anytime by checking the calendar or signing up online. Work up a sweat on their mini pickleball court, then head to The Shed for a refreshing drink.
Please note:
Due to extreme heat warnings for North Texas this weekend, the Dallas Farmers Market will be open 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. both Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23. Get up and get out early to beat the heat!
