In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day, we celebrate each and every one of you and thank the many who support them.
Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15th to October 15th every year; as a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, contributions, and diverse cultures of the Hispanic and Latino communities. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week, and it was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover the 30-day period. The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of the independence of Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Plus, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, and Columbus Day, or Día de la Raza, is October 12, falls within these 30 days.
We invite you to join us in supporting the many small businesses that are housed at the Dallas Farmers Market and to come out and celebrate all weekend long with us. We are starting this Friday with a very special M.A.D.E. Market 6-9pm, it will be full of amazing Hispanic-owned businesses with unique drinks, delicious eats, and one-of-a-kind treats. Enjoy live music, a cooling evening, and get a sneak peek at our fun pumpkin patch!
