When you think of the Dallas Farmers Market, you probably picture colorful, piled-high fruits and vegetables. Maybe jars of local honey, ranch-raised meats, and budding plants too. But don’t forget to add one more essential to that delicious mental image – freshly baked, crusty, wholesome bread.

The Shed is proud to host some of the best bread vendors around, and with fall officially arriving this weekend, along with thoughts of cozy soups and stews to come, there’s no better time to discover your next favorite grain-filled goodness.

Scott’s Bake Shop

What started as a Covid quarantine hobby has risen into a booming baking business for owner Scott Lawrence, featuring naturally leavened sourdough bread with whole wheat locally sourced from Barton Springs Mill. Make sure to try:

  • Apocalypse bread – don’t be scared, it’s incredible. Made with charcoal, red pepper, garlic and cheddar, it’s a beautifully black garlic bread with bits of red pepper (it kicks) and pockets of melted cheddar. (Farmers Market Assistant Director Kate’s favorite)
  • Baguettes
  • Focaccia – Rotating flavors like Jalapeño Cheddar and Potatoes & Rosemary
  • Milk Bread
  • White and Rustic Sourdoughs
  • A small selection of Cookies and Biscotti
