If you’re in Texas, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the days are cooler and it certainly doesn’t mean it’s safe to wear a sweater. Even in our busy days, most of us feel a reality about the autumn season beyond calendar reminders to set pumpkins on the front porch (although, whose porch doesn’t look better with a stack of Texas-grown pumpkins? 😉).

Autumn begins nature’s Great Winding Down. Those of us with kids know all about this act… Winding Down is decidedly not bed time, but there are hints that may be coming. First the lights start to dim, and exciting plans set aside in favor of gentler activities. During this time, our outward adventures turn inward as we share stories (the more whimsical the better), reflect on our days, and set plans for the coming seasons. It seems counterintuitive that these imaginative endeavors can lead us to a more restful time, as though we were meant to not simply skip from the action of summer into the hibernation of winter. Autumn is the time for a dreamy winding down that comes as naturally as the seasons. So, pop those pumpkins by the front door, let the cool breeze bring inspiration, and sip a cup of tea while you settle in for some autumn musings.

Speaking of pumpkins, did you know the Pumpkin Patch is now open? Over 25 varieties of Texas-grown pumpkins are adorning The Shed! Pumpkins of every shape and shade from orange and round, to green and flat are available everyday from now until October 31st. Catch you at the Pumpkin Patch!
