Ready or not, here comes summer! Sure that means a return to the heat, but think of all the wonderful fun that heat brings – pool time, popsicles, a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables, and all things grilling!
In order to host the perfect Memorial Day grilling experience, make sure to start at The Shed and introduce yourself to the Hendrix Family Farms, well, family – Bryan, Jenni, and their son Case. Ask how they use rotation grazing, by optimizing chicken tractors (think mobile chicken coop) and beef rotation, in order to help produce better quality pastures without the use of herbicides. All Hendrix Family Farms livestock are pasture raised, and they offer both grass or grain finishing on their beef. The best information? They’ll be fully stocked on all their grilling options in time for Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th.
Get ready to enjoy:
- Hamburger patties (4 pack)
- Bratwurst – cheddar, jalapeño/cheese, and walking taco (think Frito chili pie)
- Smoked Sausage – original, jalapeno cheese, and pineapple/habanero
- Chicken – breasts, thighs, wings, and drumsticks
- ALL the STEAKS! They carry amazing cuts you can’t always find at a chain grocery store, such as Denver and Chuck Eye, and of course the crowd favorites – New York Strip, Sirloin, and Ribeye. They also have whole cuts that can be more difficult to find, like Picanha, Bavette, and Tri-Tip, which are great grilled whole and then steaked.
So what does the Hendrix family recommend?
Bryan: Jalapeño Cheese Smoked Sausage – custom sausage that makes grilling easy, but packs so much flavor.
Jenni: Bavette (or Flap) – the most tender of the fajita style steaks. Perfect when sliced for tacos or simply left as a steak and served with some sides.
Case: Ribeye – and for good reason – it is the King of Grilling Steaks and is always a hit. Hendrix Family Farms Ribeye offers the perfect amount of marbling to ensure a tender, juicy steak with the perfect crispy edges and hot pink center.
All of the Dallas Farmers Market will be decked in red, white, and blue, including our American Flag Craft Kid’s Activity (10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday) in honor of our fallen military men and women who lost their lives in service to our country. Let’s take some time as we gather together this Memorial Day weekend with our family and friends to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
