It’s time! Saturday, February 15th is Texas Harvest Wine Tasting from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., offering the perfect opportunity to discover all the bold flavors, passionate winemakers, and rich stories behind every bottle created right here in Texas, the fifth largest wine producing state. Get your tickets here, then grab your Valentine/Galentine/bunch of friends and come enjoy 20 tastings from 12 wineries. Meet growers, taste limited-release and exclusive vintages, explore exquisite pairings matched perfectly to your wines, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the grape growing process.
One featured winery we’re particularly proud of is Eden Hill whose storefront is located right here at the Dallas Farmers Market in The Shops of Harvest Lofts (at the corner of Taylor and Harwood Street). Eden Hill Estate Vineyard & Winery, family founded in the North Texas town of Celina in 2010, is led by Clark and Linda Hornbaker who manage the estate, their son Chris who makes the wine, and daughter Wendy Dooldenyia whose beautiful artwork adorns many of the bottles. The winery crushes, ferments, ages, and bottles its own locally grown grapes, as well as partners with other grape growing families in the Texas High Plains to create award-winning wines from only Texas vineyards.
For Texas Harvest Wine Tasting, Eden Hill will be featuring their 2023 Alberino – winner of the 2024 Texas Vintners Cup in partnership with Texas Monthly and presented by Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller. Described by Devon Broglie, Judge, as having “notes of white flower, yellow apple, green pear, and candied white peach, this Alberino is refreshing, delicious, and quite complex.”
Eden Hill will also be offering tastings of their deep ruby red Tempranillo, as well as “Temptation” sweet sparkling wine made from Muscat Canelli grapes.
Feel free to wander into the Eden Hill Tasting Room for a glass or for a bottle, no reservations needed, Thursdays 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Fridays 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. or Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. For Valentine’s Day, stop by and pick up their decadent Eden Hill Honey Infused Chocolates for your sweetheart along with a bottle of their best, or make the trip out to Celina for live jazz music, fire pits, and a special “Spanish-style” Valentine food and wine experience ($40 per person) that anyone would love.
It is said it takes 600-800 grapes to make one bottle of wine, but it only takes one visit to DFM’s Texas Harvest Wine Tasting to make you want to come back year after year. A few tickets will be available at the event, but with a sunny Saturday afternoon in the forecast, you don’t want to take the chance, so raise your glass high for supporting local agriculture, and cheers!
