Now THAT was a one-in-a-melon celebration! Watermelon Day may be over but National Farmers Market Week is still here. We can’t think of a better way to have celebrated Texas Agriculture and Healthy Communities than through the amazing support of our neighbors last weekend. Over 100 watermelons were donated to the North Texas Food Bank, and more than $700 SNAP/EBT transactions were doubled thanks to the launch of Double Up Food Bucks!
The Dallas Farmers Market team is grateful that our community event embodied the benefits of local farmers market as highlighted by the Farmers Market Coalition:
“National Farmers Market Week (August 6-12, 2023) is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role farmers markets play in our nation’s food system.”
