ADVICE FROM A HAPPY PUMPKIN

Advice from a happy pumpkin– Be well-rounded, enjoy the sunshine, dream big, roll with it, have thick skin, and keep on growing! We know you’ve been anticipating the cool weather along with all things fall, and here it finally is!

We all know the popularity of pumpkin carving and how fun it is to make one-of-a-kind carving creations. But, did you know that jack-o’-lanterns actually trace their origins back centuries to Old World traditions in countries including Ireland, England, and Scotland? Nowadays, many correlate pumpkins to Halloween and fall, but many centuries ago jack-o’-lanterns were made and used as lanterns.

If your pumpkin picks will be for carving, we recommend using what is known as a field pumpkin. They’re characterized by having a very hard, dark green hooked stem, which you can use as a handle, and are usually the perfect size for holding. As we know pumpkins are not just used to carve, there are endless ways to decorate your space with these happy-colored-round beauties. They come in many shapes, sizes, and even colors; which makes for a creative way to use them as decor. Have you seen the beautiful Modge Podge decorated pumpkin? They turn out beautiful and almost any design can be done from intricate designs to minimalistic and even artistic patterns. Another option is getting dried, pressed flowers to Modge Podge onto your beautiful pumpkins!

Whatever you decide to do with your pumpkins, we invite you to visit us at The Shed this weekend to find the perfect pumpkin for you, plus many other one-of-a-kind items from our unique vendors.
