The Dallas Farmers Market started with a pragmatic idea: put Texas farmers in the same place as Dallas families, let them shake hands, and let the food do the rest. More than 80 years later, the handshake is the same — just scaled to a 5-acre campus in the heart of downtown.
We exist to make real food accessible. Everything sold in The Shed comes from a Texas-based grower, rancher, or maker. No middlemen. No out-of-state distributors. Direct from the producer to your basket, every Saturday and Sunday.
Accessibility isn’t just about geography. The Shed has accepted SNAP/EBT for years, and our Locals Program extends deep discounts on produce to Dallas residents who qualify. Admission has always been free. That’s never going to change.
We also believe this campus is a platform for the kind of city Dallas can be: one where independent operators get a foothold, local farmers build sustainable businesses, and a diverse community gathers around a shared table every week.

How We Work
Four principles that guide everything.
Food Access
Fighting hunger, growing access.
Through our SNAP/EBT Double Up program, every benefit dollar spent at The Shed goes twice as far on fresh produce. We partner with the North Texas Food Bank to channel surplus market produce to families across the DFW area.
Our market education program brings Dallas ISD students to the campus each school year to meet producers, handle vegetables, and understand where their food comes from. For many, it’s the first time they’ve met a farmer.
