Description:

Beautiful selection of Mexican Traditional tops and dresses, jewelry, handbags & accessories all 100% handmade by Mexican and Guatemalan Artisans. Mariola Cabria started Folklore & Tradition because she felt deeply connected with Mayan embroidery and how it made her feel at home. Her deep passion for the arts gave her the courage to start her own business where she knew would bring her challenges along the way, while also enjoying her hobby. Mariola was born between Mexico and Guatemala which is where she was exposed to the different yet similar artisanal culture she knows today. Mariola has spent her childhood working as a vendor at the young age of six and had to give up her education to provide for her family even if it meant working day and night. Her exposure to the markets and artisanal culture has all contributed to her small business accomplishments she is proud of today. Along the way to creating Folklore & Tradition, Mariola has had many ups and downs but stayed positive knowing she had the power and motivation to start a business despite the lack of support young Hispanic women had in the business industry. For Mariola, it has never been about making money, it was all about supporting other women like her who had no support at all. She is a very supportive individual who cares about Mayan artisans and keeping the traditions alive for generations to come. Not only is Mariola an artisan herself, but she also speaks indigenous languages and continues to build life long friendships with different artisans and her clients. Today, her small business stands in Dallas, TX where she enjoys building relationships with each and every one of her customers and makes sure they are satisfied with their purchase. Those who know Mariola know that she cares about her clients and gives them the best experience they can possibly have. They may even tell you that she won’t let you leave her shop until you know where your piece came from and who made it. Mariola continues to share her story in hopes of changing the way people see the world so they can appreciate the talented indigenous women and the work they do because these traditions are what shaped her into the woman she is today.
